Keuchel Wins Third Straight Gold Glove

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former Razorback left-handed pitcher Dallas Keuchel added more gold to his trophy case Tuesday night as he was named the Gold Glove Award winner among American League pitchers. The win is Keuchel’s third straight after completing his fifth season in the major leagues.

Keuchel committed no errors in 168.0 innings pitched, which is better than his previous two Gold Glove seasons. In 2013, his second full season in the MLB, Keuchel had an equally strong year committing no errors with a similar number of innings pitched (153.2).

He joins the ranks of another former Hog great in Tom Pagnozzi as not only the only former Razorbacks to win Gold Gloves, but to win three in a career.

The former Hog also had five putouts and 27 assists this past season and has become one of the best fielding pitchers in the majors since being called up in 2012. He was one of 18 pitchers in the MLB to finish the year with a perfect fielding percentage and was one of two pitchers in the AL with 25 or more assists and no errors.

Keuchel won nine games in 2016 and compiled a 4.55 ERA over 26 starts as a primary starter for the Astros. Giving up only 85 earned runs, while striking out 144 batters, Keuchel still had the fourth most wins and second most strikeouts on the team.

The 2017 Razorback baseball team will begin its season against Miami (Ohio) with a three-game series on Feb. 17.
