Koop helps East to Texas All-Star win

FAYETTEVILLE – Hayley Koop, incoming freshman for the University of Arkansas volleyball team, took part in Wednesday night’s Texas Girls Coaches Association 4A-5A All-Star game. Koop and her teammates on the East All-Star team came away with a straight-sets victory over the West All-Stars at Arlington Lamar High School.

Representing Klein High School in the Houston area, Koop was one of the offensive leaders for the East squad in the 25-19, 25-15, 25-19 win. The TGCA All-Star teams are made up of outstanding seniors from around the state. There were 12 players on each team. In addition to her All-Star status, Koop was selected to the TGCA 5A All-State Team following her senior season.

In her final prep season, Koop was the Houston area leader with 5.20 kills per game and finished fourth with 4.43 digs per game. She was the MVP of her team and picked as the Most Valuable Hitter in District 13-5A. Koop helped lead Klein to a fourth-place district finish and an appearance in the state playoffs.

Koop joined Alex Fitzmorris, Clarissa Pavey, Raymariely Santos and Charmaine Whitmore in the second recruiting group for Razorback volleyball head coach Robert Pulliza. The recruiting class was an honorable mention selection by PrepVolleyball.com. Fitzmorris and transfer Adriana Vazquez joined the team in the 2010 spring semester to participate in offseason workouts.
