Kuhn named SEC Freshman of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE – Redshirt Freshman Collin Kuhn of the Arkansas baseball team was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week by the league office in Birmingham, Ala., on Monday afternoon.

Kuhn batted .353 for the week, making three starts in four games. Against Florida, Kuhn hit .429 with a team leading six hits in 14 at bats. He scored three runs and drove in another in Arkansas’ SEC opening weekend sweep. Filling in at the leadoff spot for the Razorbacks, Kuhn was a catalyst for the Arkansas offense. In Sunday afternoon’s game, Kuhn led off with a triple to left-center field and scored on batter later for Arkansas’ first run in a tight 4-2 victory.

For the season, Kuhn is batting .316 with nine starts in 13 games played. He has 12 hits, 11 runs scored, two doubles, a triple, seven walks, a stolen base and five RBI. Kuhn has also been perfect in the field in 17 chances and against Cal two weekends ago he recorded Arkansas’ first outfield assist in nearly a year when he threw out a base runner at home plate.

The Razorbacks continue their season on Tuesday evening when they host the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Baum Stadium for the first of two games. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. with Wednesday’s start slated for 3:05 p.m. For more information regarding Razorback baseball or University of Arkansas athletics please visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
