Lady?Back Catherine White Honored by the SEC

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Lady Razorback Catherine White, a distance runner on the track and field team, has been honored by the Southeastern Conference, it was announced on Tuesday. She was named the SEC Freshman Athlete of the Week.

White made her collegiate 10,000-meter debut at Mt. SAC Relays and finished third in a packed race of collegians and professionals with a time of 33:52.06. The top collegiate finisher in her race, she clocked an NCAA provisional-qualifying time of 33:52.06. Her time is a personal best, leads the SEC and ranks eighth nationally (No. 1 among freshman nationally). Just a freshman, she dipped below the US Olympic Trials "B" standard for the event.

She also holds the 17th-fastest regional-qualifying 5,000-meter time in the nation (16:29.88) which she clocked at the Stanford Invitational two weeks ago. Her time ranks third nationally among freshman and fifth in the SEC.

The Lady’Backs will compete next at Drake Relays, April 24-26, in Des Moines, Iowa. For more information on Arkansas track and field, visit www.ladybacks.com.
