Lady?Backs Collect Regional Marks at ULL

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Select members of the Arkansas Lady Razorback track and field team competed in the Louisiana Classics at Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday. Tominque Boatright, Courtenay Brown and Sarah Landau hit the regional-qualifying mark in their respective events and Landau matched the facility record in the pole vault.

“All in all, it was a pretty good day,” Associate Head Coach Rolando Greene said. “We came down here with a job to do and we did it. We got three regional marks so it was a pretty successful trip. We got a few regional marks out of the way and now we can concentrate on competing at Texas Relays.”

Landau, a junior making her Lady’Back debut, cleared 13-1.5 to win the pole vault and cleared the regional-qualifying height. In her efforts, she also tied the Ragin’ Cajuns facility best. Landau, a transfer from Miami-Ohio, is a two-time NCAA Mideast Region Champion, three-time NCAA qualifier in the vault and two-time Mid-American Conference champion.

Boatright, a 2008 indoor All-American as a member of the 4×400-meter relay, competed in both the 200 meters and the 400 meters. She clocked a 24.17 to place second in the 200 meters and a 54.21 to earn a second-place finish in the 400 meters. Her 400-meter time is also a regional-qualifying mark.

Brown, also a 2008 indoor All-American as a member of the 4×400-meter relay, finished third in the 400 meters, her only event of the day, with a regional-qualifying time of 54.61.

In the 800 meters, Arkansas claimed first-, second- and third-place finishes. Paige Farrell, also a 2008 indoor All-American as a member of the 4×400-meter relay, won the race with a time of 2:11.74. Devon Williams finished second (2:15.76) and Kelly Long (2:15.98) was third.

Michelle Rossio won three of the throwing events. She tossed 44-6.75 in the shot put, 144-10 in the discus and 159-5 in the hammer to win all three events.

Arkansas will continue the outdoor season with the Texas Relays, April 2-5, in Austin, Texas. For more information on Lady’Back track and field, visit www.ladybacks.com.
