Lady Razorbacks bounce back strong on Day 2 of Wildcat Classic

CHICAGO – Arkansas freshman Delia Demaschin won both of her consolation matches on day two of the Northwestern Wildcat Classic Saturday.

The Lady Razorbacks combined for a 5-1 record during the second day, a much better day, according to Arkansas assistant coach Jeroen Joling, compared to their play on Friday.

“The girls showed a lot of heart bouncing back from some tough loses on Friday,” said Joling. “They made me very happy as a coach and now we’re looking forward to the final day tomorrow.”

In Draw A of singles consolation, senior Audrey Bordeleau began by defeating Stephanie Kebler of Michigan State, 6-1, 6-1. However, Bordeleau dropped her second match to Minnesota’s Alessandra Ferrazz, 6-2, 6-2.

Draw B consolation is where Demaschin went undefeated for the day. Her first opponent was Marianne Eelens of Michigan State, whom she defeated, 6-1, 6-1. In her second match, she topped Mississippi’s Preethi Submaranian, 6-0, 6-3.

In consolation of the Purple Draw, sophomore Melissa Hoffmeister defeated Michigan State’s Christin Milliken, 6-3, 6-2, in her only match of the day.

The only Lady’Back doubles duo, Bordeleau and Demaschin, won their lone match against Wisconsin’s Jessica Seyferth and Elizabeth Carpenter, 8-6, in Draw A of doubles consolation.

The Lady’Backs will be competing on Sunday in the last day of the Wildcat Classic. Be sure to stay tuned to LADYBACKS.com to find out the final results.
