Lady'Back Linksters ranked in Golf World top 25
FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas women’s golf team checks in at number 23 in the inaugural
Golf World/NGCA coaches poll released today. The poll is voted upon by 27 women’s golf coaches from around the country and will appear in the March 9, issue of
Golf World. "It’s great to be mentioned in the coaches poll," said Arkansas head coach Kelley Hester. "This poll is voted on by our peers and that recognition says a lot about our program both now and in the past." Southeastern Conference rival Georgia tops the poll in the number one spot after winning the national championship last year. Arizona State second followed by Duke, Auburn and Pepperdine to round out the top five. The SEC is well-represented in the poll. In addition to Georgia and Auburn in the top five, Vanderbilt checks in at number six, Tennessee is 12th, Florida is No. 18, Arkansas is No. 23 and South Carolina is 24th. League members LSU and Alabama are receiving votes. Arkansas opened the spring season with back-to-back Florida tournaments. The Lady Razorbacks next travel to the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, March 16-18.
