Lady'Back softball coming to Sherwood

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team faces Louisiana Tech in Sherwood, Ark., Wednesday, April 18 for a doubleheader that begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Sherwood Sports Complex. The Lady Razorbacks, who are 18-35 overall and 5-14 in the Southeastern Conference, enter the contest after dropping an SEC series to Ole Miss. Louisiana Tech was swept by Utah State this past weekend and faces Louisiana-Monroe Tuesday before taking on Arkansas Wednesday. The Lady Techsters are 20-27 overall and 3-9 in the Western Athletic Conference. Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he looks forward to returning to central Arkansas. “Sherwood was such a huge success last year and we’re excited about going back down there,” he said. “There are a lot of fans that don’t get a chance to see Lady Razorback softball and this is a great opportunity for the fan base in central Arkansas to come out and watch us play.” The last and only time Arkansas and Louisiana Tech met was in 1998. The Lady Techsters defeated the Lady’Backs by a score of 5-1. The Lady’Backs are led by freshman Jessica Bachkora who has a .305 batting average, 27 runs, 50 hits, nine doubles, four triples and a .352 on-base percentage. Emma Barnes leads the Lady Techsters with a .351 batting average, 52 this, 21 walks, 28 runs, a .443 on-base percentage and 19 stolen bases. The Lady’Backs will hold autograph sessions before the games, from 2:45 – 4 p.m., and at the conclusion of the doubleheader. The Sherwood Sports Complex is located at 511 Bear Paw Drive.
