Lady'Back to Play in Sherwood Wednesday

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team is playing Louisiana Monroe in Sherwood, Ark., Wednesday, April 19 with a doubleheader scheduled for 5:30 p.m., at the Sherwood Sports Complex.

The Lady Razorbacks (21-26) have a 2-1 series lead over the Lady Indians (25-25). Last season, Arkansas defeated ULM, 6-1 and 8-0 in five innings, in the Lady’Back Invitational in Fayetteville.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he is looking forward to playing in central Arkansas for the first time.

“Our kids are excited,” he said. “Louisiana-Monroe is a good opponent. It was an opportunity that I thought we couldn’t pass up as a program. I think it’s going to be fun to have the Little Rock area fan base come out and watch us play.”

Senior outfielder Mindy O’Malley is leading the Lady’Back offense with a .290 batting average and 40 hits. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Katy Henry has a team-high 2.11 ERA and 176 strikeouts.

The Louisiana Monroe is paced by Heather Williams with a .338 average and 49 hits. In the circle, Sammie Dillard has a 1.99 ERA.

The Sherwood Sports Complex is located at 511 Bear Paw Drive. The Lady’Backs will hold autograph sessions from 3:30-4:00 p.m. and at the conclusion of the doubleheader.
