Lady'Backs continue road show in Athens

ATHENS, Ga. – On the heels of their first Southeastern Conference victory, the University of Arkansas Lady Razorback soccer team goes back out on the road to take on the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens, Ga., on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. central.

Arkansas’ game against the Bulldogs will be broadcast on the radio at KXUA, 88.3 FM in Fayetteville and on the internet at LADYBACKS.COM. The Lady Razorbacks enter the match with their best record in 10 years at 8-3-0 and 1-2-0 in SEC play while Georgia comes in with a 6-5-0 mark and 1-3-0 conference clip.

“I am looking forward to this match as I o to all our SEC games,” Arkansas head coach Gordon Henderson said. “There’s a pressure, but not on us for the next couple of games. We come in as the underdog and have nothing to lose. The team knows that they are capable of doing very well this weekend against two very good sides, but we also have a tremendous amount of respect for these teams. Georgia started conference play on the road against some of the top teams in the conference so they are very happy to be back at home. We need to do a good job of protecting the ball and if we are not ready to play, it could be a long night.”

Over the last several matches it has been the play of the Arkansas defense that has dominated the action. While not getting the final results that Arkansas would hope for, the defensive line of senior Devon Burger, juniors Allison Harris and Sarah Gwisdala and freshman Rachel Smith have been outstanding throughout the 2006 season and have allowed just 10 goals to be scored on them with the help of senior goalkeeper Carrie Dillsaver. The play of all five Lady’Backs have allowed Dillsaver to break four all-time University of Arkansas records and on the cusp of two more.

Over the years, Arkansas and Georgia have played in several matches that have been nail biters. Their 2005 game in Fayetteville was a 1-0 affair with the only score coming in the second minute of action.
