FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas Lady Razorback softball rewrote the record books when the 2004-05 squad ranked 40th in the nation in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All–Academic Team Division I category, the organization announced.
In the nine-year history of the program, this is the first team academic honor the Lady’Backs have earned. The team recorded a 3.166 team grade point average and ranked fourth among teams in the Southeastern Conference with only Mississippi State, Florida and South Carolina ranked higher.
Pinkerton said he was pleased that his team achieved success in the classroom and hopes to continue the Lady’Back tradition with the bats and books.
“On the academic front, I am real pleased with our team as a whole,” Pinkerton said. “Since I arrived here it has been a focal point of our staff to make improvements on our team G.P.A. We are really proud of that and look forward to maintaining that excellence.”
