Lady'Backs Escape SEC Play Host Stephen F. Austin

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas softball team (10-17, 0-6) takes a break from Southeastern Conference competition as the Lady Razorbacks host Stephen F. Austin, Wednesday, March 16, for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.

The mid-week contest marks the second meeting between Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin. The Ladyjacks defeated the Lady’Backs 1-0 in their first meeting, Feb. 11, 2000 in Arlington, Texas.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he wants his team to improve and prepare before continuing with conference play.

“Hopefully, we’ll be able to fix some things,” Pinkerton said. “So we can work on basics and get back on track. We need to be smarter at the plate and improve in the pitching department.”

Sophomore outfielder Rachel LeMaster leads the Lady’Backs with a .366 batting average and 30 hits. LeMaster also has a team-high 10 stolen bases.
