Lady'Backs head to Canada this weekend

FAYETTEVILLE — The Arkansas Lady Razorbacks board a flight this afternoon for the first-ever appearance in Canada this weekend.

The games on Saturday, Sept. 1, against British Columbia and Sunday, Sept. 2, against Simon Fraser will be broadcast live back to Fayetteville on Lady Razorback Radio Network affiliates KAYH (89.3 FM) and KXUA (88.3 FM). The games will also stream live on LADYBACKS.COM.

Coach Tom Collen plans a veteran starting lineup for the first game with British Columbia at 4 p.m. on Saturday. While the team is loaded with youth, Collen wants to give his freshmen time to acclimate to the FIBA rules and the level of play.

Arkansas projects senior Brittney Vaughn at point, sophomore Charity Ford at guard and junior Ayana Brereton on the wing. Inside, senior all-America candidate Lauren Ervin and junior Whitney Jones start at the posts.

Returning senior Sarah Pfeifer may be limited in the amount she can play as she has had shoulder problems the last few days of practice prior to the trip north.

Sunday’s game at Simon Fraser is a 9 p.m. start in the central time zone.
