Lady'Backs Host Border War

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas softball team (12-25) hosts the Border War in non-conference action Tuesday, March 29, when Oklahoma State (24-10) and Tulsa (19-19), travel to Fayetteville for the annual contest.

The Lady Razorbacks have a 2-1 record against Oklahoma State with Arkansas losing for the first time to the Cowgirls last season 2-1 in Stillwater, Okla. Arkansas leads the series with Tulsa 7-4 but fell to the Golden Hurricane 6-0 last year.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he thinks playing quality non-conference opponents are good for his team.

“I think it will be a good opportunity to get out of the rigors of the SEC,” Pinkerton said. “The Border War is going to be a couple of really good test for us.”

Pinkerton said he is optimistic about the Lady’Backs continuing to play like they did in the series with No. 13 Georgia.

“A positive out of the Georgia series was Katy Henry’s performance in the first game,” he said. “Basically, she shut them down on five hits. Hopefully, we can carry the hitting from the weekend into the Border War.”
