Lady'Backs Host Jayhawks Wednesday

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team hosts Kansas in a non-conference doubleheader, Wednesday, April 5, at 4:00 p.m.

The Lady Razorbacks (17-21, 5-10) just wrapped a series with No. 5 Tennessee and the Jayhawks (18-17, 1-3) meet No. 19 Nebraska, Tuesday, before traveling to Fayetteville.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said the doubleheader with the Jayhawks should prepare the Lady’Backs for the Southeastern Conference series at South Carolina, April 8-9.

“It will be a good mid-week test to get us in line for, what I think might be the biggest conference series we’ve had,” he said. “We spent Monday cleaning up the defense. We really worked on focusing defensively for this game with Kansas.”

The Lady’Backs have a 6-13 record against Kansas all-time after the Jayhawks took the doubleheader last season in Lawrence, Kan., 7-2 and 6-5. Arkansas is looking for its first win over KU since 2003.

Junior Rachel LeMaster and senior Blaire Perry lead the Arkansas offense with 30 hits each. LeMaster has a team-high .278 average. Seniors Shana Easley and Mindy O’Malley have both contributed 29 hits to the Lady’Back cause. In the circle, sophomore Katy Henry posts a 2.34 ERA.
