Lady'Backs in Sunshine State for Conference Series

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Arkansas softball team continues its spring break road trip with a doubleheader against Florida, Saturday, March 25, at noon in Gainesville, Fla. The series concludes Sunday, March 26 at noon.

The Lady Razorbacks (15-14, 4-5) won its first Southeastern Conference series of the season taking two games from Mississippi, March 21-22. Arkansas also posted its first run-rule of the season in the series.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he wants the Lady’Backs to maintain the level of play that has earned them four SEC wins in nine games, a feat that took the team all season to accomplish last year.

“We need to continue to play like we’ve been playing all season,” he said. “We just need to be relaxed and go out there and play a good, solid seven innings. Hopefully, we’ll have an opportunity to be in a position to win some games while we’re here.”

The Gators (24-10, 3-3) lead the all-time series 16-9 after sweeping the Lady’Backs, 2-1, 9-0 and 8-0, in Fayetteville, last season.

In the series with Ole Miss, seniors Shana Easley and Mindy O’Malley guided the team offensively. Easley had a .444 average and O’Malley recorded a .400 mark while logging a team-high 5 RBIs. In the circle, sophomore Katy Henry collected two wins to give her a career high eight wins this season. Overall, senior Blaire Perry leads the Lady’Backs with a .318 batting average, 27 hits and a 1.90 ERA.
