Lady'Backs Set for Final Home Meet Senior Day

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team hosts its final home meet of the 2005 season Saturday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m., as the Kansas Jayhawks travel to Fayetteville for the Lady Razorback senior day.

Seniors A.K. Campbell, Hannah Clegg, Zsuzsa Csobanki, Whitney Lynn and Lisa Petry are competing for the last time in the Arkansas Natatorium.

The Lady’Backs returned home after concluding Southeastern Conference competition at Kentucky, Jan. 22, with a loss to the Wildcats, 84-54 while Arkansas defeated Louisville 89-51.

Head coach Anne Goodman James said the Jayhawks bring a quality squad that brings speed to the pool for the seniors’ farewell.

“Kansas is a great team,” Goodman James said. “They have one of the strongest and deepest teams this year that I can recall.”

The Lady’Backs last met the Jayhawks Feb. 7, 2004 in Lawrence, Kan., with Kansas recording a 181-119 victory. This is the 22nd in the series between the programs.

Goodman James said the history between Arkansas and Kansas leads to an intense competition with Csobanki leading the Lady’Backs in the sprint freestyle events.

“It tends to be a big rivalry. We should have some great head-to-head match-ups. (Kansas senior) Amy (Gruber) and Zsuzsa are the top sprinters around.”
