Lady'Backs wrap up good first week

FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas volleyball team will test itself in an alumni scrimmage Sunday at 1:30 p.m., in Barnhill Arena. After a week of practice, head coach Chris Poole and the Lady’Backs are ready to test their skills against someone else. The scrimmage is free and open to the public. "We’re anxious to see how well we are able to compete against players who don’t know what we’re running," he said. "This is a great test. It’s a chance to go against individuals who have experience and to see if the things we are working on in practice translate into success on the court." Arkansas put in a tough spring schedule prior to the team breaking for the summer. The "break" however, was more productive for the team then in recent seasons with every player working out and training individually over the summer. "We are very pleased with the first week of practice," said Poole. "This is the best conditioned team I’ve had since 1998 and that team reached the NCAA Regionals. We are very excited about where we are at. We are competing at a very high level in practice." The Lady Razorbacks open the 2005 season hosting the Arkansas Invitational Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26-27, in Barnhill Arena. Tickets are currently on sale in the Lady Razorback Ticket Office and on-line. For more information, call 57-LBACK or log on to LADYBACKS.COM.
