Landry Razorbacks in Fourth Place at Callaway Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Andrew Landry carded a two-under-par 142 on day one of the USD Callaway Invitational in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and sits in fourth place on the individual leaderboard. The Razorbacks are also in fourth place of the 15-team field event being played out on the par-72, 6,911-yard course at The Farms Golf Club. Arkansas shot an 11-over-par 587 as a team during Monday’s 36 holes of competition.

Landry fired two rounds of 71 and is positioned two shots behind the trio of golfers leading the tournament at four-under-par. The Razorback junior will be looking for his first top-five result this season. Landry has four top-10 finishes through six events.

Will Osborne, appearing in the line-up for the first time this season, shot rounds of 75 and 71 and is tied for 10th place with four other golfers with a 36-hole two-over-par 146. Freshman Sam Chavez is third among UA golfers with a seven-over-par 151. He is part of a seven-golfer tie for 34th place.

David Lingmerth and Jason Turner are tied with Utah’s Chance Cota for 59th place after day one. Lingmerth fired an opening-round 70, but struggled on the next 18 holes and shot a 13-over-par 85. Turner posted first- and second-round scores of 76 and 79, respectively.

Wichita State (-6) leads the Callaway Invitational by six shots over host-team San Diego. Saint Mary’s (CA) is in third place, eight shots ahead of the fourth-place Razorbacks. On the individual leaderboard, Saint Mary’s Joshua Kelly shares the lead with Dustin Garza and Ryan Spears of Wichita State at four-under-par heading into Tuesday’s final round.
