Largo swims 800m free at U.S. Olympic Trials

OMAHA, Neb. – University of Arkansas sophomore Ashley Largo swam the 800m freestyle on Friday at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. Largo, from Sarasota, Fla., raced in the second heat of the prelims and finished 42nd with a time of 8:54.81. Senior Stephanie Carr did not swim the event. Kate Ziegler and Katie Hoff went 1-2, respectively. Ziegler touched in 8:29.39 and Hoff was right behind with an 8:29.91. In the finals, it was Hoff who shaved almost nine seconds off her prelim time and took the top spot in 8:20.81. Ziegler finished second in 8:25.38. The U.S. Olympic Swim Team is set with 22 men and 21 women representing the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games held August 8-24 in Beijing, China.
