Lebedev advances at All-American

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— University of Arkansas tennis player Dmitry Lebedev powered through the competition at the pre-qualifying tournament this weekend.

Lebedev received awalkover in the first round before defeating Kayvon Karimi of Texas A&M, 6-1, 6-4. In a lateSunday match Lebedev had a comeback win after losing in atight first set to EliotPotvin of Georgia Tech. After a short rain delay the players returned to the courts and Lebedev defeated Karimi, 4-6, 7-5 (10-6).

“Dmitry had a great day,” head coach Robert Cox said. “He played like a senior should in a tight situation and played solid tennis.”

Lebedev will advance and join teammates Chris Nott and Matt Hogan in the All-American qualifying tournament starting early Monday, Oct. 5. Hogan will be the first Razorback to hit the courts against Matt Allare of Ohio State, Monday at 8 a.m. and Nott isscheduled to play at 2:30 p.m. Lebedev returns to thecourts tothe courts at 10 a.m. to face Duke’s Henrique Chnha.

“These three guys have a lot experience behind them,” Cox said. “I am expecting a lot of good out of this tournament.”
