Lewis cards 66 at WSGA Amateur

PINEHURST, NC — University of Arkansas golfer Stacy Lewis fired her second consecutive round of 66 and leads the field at the 91st Women’s Southern Golf Association Amateur Championship at the Country Club of North Carolina Monday. Lewis, who also posted a 66 in the final round of the 2006 NCAA Championship at Ohio State in May, scorched the field playing the par 72, 6,033 yard Dogwood Course in under three hours with six birdies and no bogeys. Lewis, a Woodlands, Texas, native and two-time all-American at Arkansas, tallied all of her birdies on par four holes with three each on the front and back sides. Lady’Back teammate Whitney Sylvan also competed posting an 83 but did not make the cut. The field was cut to a championship flight with 32 players with the break coming at seven-over 79. A playoff was held for the final five spots with 11 golfers tied after regulation. Play continues Tuesday. For more information about Arkansas golf please log on to LADYBACKS.COM.
