Lewis eliminated in 19 holes

NORTH PLAINES, Ore. – University of Arkansas junior golfer Stacy Lewis dropped her semifinal match in 19 holes and was eliminated at the 106th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in North Plaines, Ore., Saturday. Lewis never led the match against Katharina Schallenberg of Germany. Lewis squared the match as late as the 14th hole and the pair halved the last four holes in regulation. Lewis found the bunker on the 19th hole near the green while Schallenberg made a par for the win. "I’m pretty happy with my performance," Lewis said after the match. "And pretty happy with the whole summer. And really wanted to win today. But that’s how it goes." Lewis returns to campus for the start of classes next week.
