Lewis leads, Tubert tied for 95th

ROGERS, Ark. — Former University of Arkansas women’s golfer Stacy Lewis is tied for the lead and current sophomore Emily Tubert is tied for 95th after first round action at the Walmart NW Arkansas LPGA Championship at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark., Friday.

Lewis fired a five-under 66 in the first round with five birdies in her round. Lewis is tied with Yani Tseng for the lead and the duo are one stroke ahead of a three-way tie for second at four-under.

Tubert, who teed off early in the first session, struggled on the front nine but rebounded late in her round to finish three over in her first-ever LPGA event.

Tubert tees off at 1:17 p.m. Saturday in second round action. Both are trying to make the cut for Sunday’s final round.
