Lewis one-under in first round of JFOCC

SYLVANIA, Ohio – Former University of Arkansas women’s golfer Stacy Lewis fired a one-under 70 in first round action at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic in Toldeo, Ohio, Thursday. Lewis, playing in her third event as a professional golfer, recorded four birdies and three bogies. She hit 12 fairways and 14 greens in regulation and had 31 putts. Her average drive was 233.50 yards. Lewis is tied for 32nd along with several other players. This is Lewis’ third appearance in the JFOCC. She missed the cut in her first appearance in 2006, and made the cut last year. One of the highlights of this year’s event was Paula Creamer who posted an 11-under 60 in the first round setting both a course and tournament record. Creamer leads the field after hitting nine birdies in the final 11 holes Thursday. Lewis continues play Friday with a 12:05 p.m. start. She is paired with Anna Grzebien and Liz Janangelo. Friday’s round airs from 1-3 p.m., with Saturday’s scheduled for 3-5 p.m. The final round is scheduled for a 5-7 p.m. window.
