Lewis plays in LPGA event

FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas junior golfer Stacy Lewis will become the first Lady Razorback to play in an LPGA event when she tees it up at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Tuesday. Lewis has had an active summer with a runner-up finish at the Women’s Southern Amateur, won the Western Amateur and qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur in August. Lewis, a Woodlands, Texas, native, is the first Lady Razorback to participate in an LPGA event although former teammate Amanda McCurdy has been a two-time entrant to the U.S. Women’s Open, a USGA event. In addition to Lewis, the field is scheduled to include hall of famer-Nancy Lopez, Annika Sorenstam and Julie Inkster. The week-long event takes place at Highland Meadows Golf Course in Sylvania, Ohio. This weekend’s events are slated for broadcast on ESPN2.
