Lewis seventh Lady'Backs 11th at the Liz Murphey
Jump to agate FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas freshman Stacy Lewis posted a final round 76 for 222 (72-74-76) finishing tied for seventh overall in the final round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga., Sunday.“We played a little better today,” said Arkansas head coach Kelley Hester. “We played better as a team and most of the scores came down. I’m pleased with that.”The Lady Razorbacks finished 11th overall with a three-day 925 (306-313-306) in a somewhat disappointing ending to the tournament. Sixth after the first day, Arkansas fell to 11th to finish on Sunday.“I would have liked to finish better,” said Hester, “but I am pleased with how we finished. We hung in there and didn’t give up.”Junior Courtney Mahon was low for Arkansas in the final round carding a 75 to finish tied for 31st overall at 230 (77-78-75). Junior El Dorado, Ark., native Amanda McCurdy finished tied for 55th with a 236 (79-81-76) and Hot Springs, Ark., senior Gena Johnson was tied for 63rd overall with a 238 (78-81-79). Junior Lindsey Hinshaw rounded out the Arkansas scores finishing tied for 80th at 247 (83-80-84).The host Georgia Bulldogs won the event with three field-leading rounds finishing with an 892 (298-294-300) on their home course. LSU was second with a 905, followed by Auburn and Tulane who tied for third with 908. Tennessee was fifth with 909, Wake Forest was sixth with a 910 and Mississippi State was seventh at 919. Arkansas, who finished 11th overall, ended the tournament ahead of Southeastern Conference rivals Mississippi, South Carolina, Kentucky and Alabama in the event.The Lady Razorbacks return to the links April 4-5 at the BYU Dixie Classic in St. George, Utah.
