RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Former University of Arkansas women’s golfer Stacy Lewis continues to lead the field at the 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif., after second round action.
Lewis, a native of The Woodlands, Texas, competed for the Razorbacks from 2005-08 and was a three-time All-American.
She turned professional and earned her LPGA Tour Card after graduation and has played well for the past three seasons.
This week, Lewis carded a first-round six-under 66 and added a second round, three-under 69 for 135. She was in sole possession of the lead by three strokes over Jane Park and Brittnay Lincicome who were both in the clubhouse with 138 after two rounds. Although Friday’s play is not over, Lewis will likely remain at or near the top heading into Saturday’s play.
Lewis’ best finish in a major came in 2008 when she tied for third at the U.S. Women’s Open.
Play continues through April 3.
