Lewis tied for 10th at Kraft Nabisco Championship

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – University of Arkansas junior Stacy Lewis fired an even-par 72 and is tied for 10th overall at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, one of four majors on the LPGA tour, in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Friday. Lewis, a Woodlands, Texas, native, opened the second LPGA event of her amateur career with a bogey on the first hole but pared the next three. She birdied the next two holes, carding a two on the par three fifth hole and taking a three on the par four sixth. She rounded out the front nine with a bogey just before the turn for an even 36 at the halfway point. Lewis was even for much of the back nine falling to one-under on the 17th with a two on a par three but picked the stroke back up with a bogey on the final hole. Lewis is the highest placing amateur in the first round and is tied with 12 others in 10th place. Shi Hyun Ahn leads the field with a four-under 68. Lorena Ochoa is second with a 69 while defending champion Karrie Webb is tied with four others in third with a two-under 70. Stroke play continues Friday through Sunday.
