Lewis tied for medalist honors early
Jump to morning stroke play results PINEHURST, N.C. – University of Arkansas junior Stacy Lewis posted a one-under 72 and left the course tied for medalist honors after second round action at the 104th North and South Women’s Amateur Championship in Pinehurst, N.C. Lewis, a Woodlands, Texas, native, opened stroke play with a 72 on Monday adding a 72 on the par-73, 6,472-yard No. 2 Course at Pinehurst for a 144 and a three-way tie for the lead in the morning flight. Although all of the competitors were not off the course, it is likely Lewis will be among the top 64 to advance to match play which begins Wednesday. Lewis came off the course tied with Stephanie Otteson of Wilson, N.C. (70-74) and Nikki Hadd of Crestview, Fla., (71-73) after morning play. Match play begins Wednesday with a single round, followed by two rounds Thursday and single rounds Friday and Saturday before the 36-hole final on Sunday. Lewis, who was eliminated in the first round of match play last year, has had a busy summer playing nearly every week since leading the Lady Razorbacks to the NCAA Championship in mid-May. Lewis has a runner-up finish at the Southern Amateur and won the Western Amateur. She has also qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur in August.
