Lewis wins again; advances to finals

FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas junior Stacy Lewis continues to make it look easy rolling through two more rounds and into the finals of the 92nd Women’s Southern Amateur Championship in Birmingham, Ala., Thursday. Lewis opened her day with a 2 and 1 win over Vanderbilt rival Jacqui Concolino in a round that saw her count eight birdies at the Riverchase Country Club course. The win propelled Lewis into the semifinals where she faced Kimberly Meck in the afternoon flight. Lewis came away with a 6 and 4 win over Meck recording 15 birdies in 31 holes of golf. Lewis advances to the finals but her opponent was still to be determined. Lady Razorback teammate Alexandrea Schulte was eliminated today in the first flight semifinals falling 2 and 1 to Dawn Woodard. Teammate Lucy Nunn also competed at the Southern but was eliminated on the final hole of regulation Wednesday. Nunn and Lewis were awarded the Team Trophy for the lowest combined qualifying scores of any two competitors from the same club or university team. It is a perpetual trophy.
