PINEHURST, N.C. – University of Arkansas junior golfer Stacy Lewis posted a first-round match play win to advance at the 104th North and South Women’s Amateur Championship at Pinehurst Golf Resort Wednesday. Lewis breezed through the first two rounds of stroke play tying a pair of other players for medalist honors with a 144 (72-72) advancing to the round of 64. Lewis had a tight first-round match before defeating Mandi McConnell of Grand Blanc, Mich., 2 & 1. She faces Jeehae Lee of Newhaven, CT, in the second round at 8:18 a.m., Thursday. If Lewis wins the second round match, she’ll move on to a third-round match that afternoon. Lewis, a Woodlands, Texas, native, was eliminated in the first round of match play last year.
