Lile Receives NCAA Tournament Invitation

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas senior golfer Craig Lile received an invitation from the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Committee on Tuesday to participate in the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships. Lile will play in the NCAA South Central Regional, May 17-19, at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.
Lile will be playing in the NCAA tournament as an individual for the second time and the third time overall. Last year in Victoria, Texas, Lile shot an opening-round 72 followed by a 73 to finish at 145 (1-over par) but failed to advance to the championships. In 1999 in Chaska, Minn., Lile was a member of the Razorback squad that finished tied for 24th.
All-American Lile has had an outstanding senior season for the Razorbacks after playing in the 2000 U.S.Open at Pebble Beach last summer. Lile has led the Hogs in all 11 tournaments in which they have competed and claimed three tournament titles this season. Lile finished in the top five in six tournaments and finished out of the top 20 in only one tournament.
Three regional tournaments will be conducted May 17-19 with 421 participants, 156 of which will advance to the championships’ finals. The championships will be conducted May 30 to June 2 at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C. Duke University is the host institution for this year’s championships.
Lile and Razorback teammates Ryan Blagg, Beau Galyean, Drew Higginbothom and Adam Wing will play in the final tournament of the season at The Maxwell, May 11-13, at Dornick Hills Country Club in Ardmore, Okla.
