Lile Wins Cleveland Golf Kiawah Island Interco

KIAWAH ISLAND, SC – University of Arkansas senior All-American Craig Lile jumped from third place after two rounds to win at the Cleveland Golf Kiawah Island Intercollegiate with a four-under-par 68 in Tuesday’s final round at Osprey Point Golf Club. The Razorbacks moved from ninth to sixth in the final round of their first event of the season.
“It felt good to win,” Lile said. “It is different from my wins over the last years. I expected to win this tournament. I knew before it started that I should win this tournament. In the practice rounds, I knew I was the best and that was a big difference.”
Lile, who was tied for third with a one-under-par 143 after 36 holes on Monday, finished at five under (70-73-68 – 211) to claim his third collegiate tournament title.
“Of the three wins, they have all been a little different,” Lile said. “The first one (1999 Lexus Intercollegiate) was a surprise. The second one (1999 UTSA Invitational) was neat because I did not play well, and I still won. The third one I knew the entire time that I was going to win. They are all special but different.”
Drew Higginbothom (74-77-72 – 223) and Adam Wing (75-73-72 -223) tied for 24th place. Ryan Blagg (75-79-81 – 235) and Seth Murphy (76-84-75 – 235) tied for 60th place.
The Razorbacks return to action at the Red River Classic Oct. 9 and 10 at the Dallas Athletic Club.
