Lingmerth begins Palmer Cup

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former Arkansas men’s golfer David Lingmerth, who completed his collegiate eligibility this spring, is set to participate in the famed Palmer Cup this weekend for Team Europe at the Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland.

Lingmerth, Arkansas’ first ever participant in the Palmer Cup which pits the top American and European collegiate golfers in a Ryder-cup style tournament, was a two-time All-American for the Razorbacks and ended his career with the second lowest stroke average in school history at 72.62. His inclusion in the Palmer Cup is a testament to his abilities on the course as only the most prestigious players are asked to participate with several going on to earn their PGA Tour cards.

The first day of the Palmer Cup will include two rounds, a four-ball match and foursome match. Lingmerth, a native of Tranas, Sweden, is paired with Patrick Spraggs of England (Stirling University) for the four-ball match which begins at 7:30 a.m. local time. Lingmerth and Spraggs are slated to play Americans David Chung (Stanford) and Jonathan Randolph (Ole Miss).
