Lingmerth takes 2nd

DALLAS-The fall season for the University of Arkansas men’s golf team officially concluded on Tuesday at the Baylor Intercollegiate, after weather halted play on the first day. The Razorbacks finished the tournament in sixth place of 12 teams with a 20-over 872 (300-287-285).The reigning NCAA Champion, Texas A&M powered through the competition to take the team win with a 4-under 848(286-289-273). SMU was the only other team to post an under par score for the tournament with a 1-under 851(300-276-275). Iowa, who had previously held the top position on the leader board slipped into third place in the final round with a 13-over 865(292-284-289). Tournament host Baylor and New Mexico tied for fourth with a 14-over 866, in front of the Hogs.SMU’s James Kwon defended his 2008 Baylor Intercollegiate title, taking the 2009 win with a 6-under 207(76-64-67). Arkansas golfer David Lingmerth fired a 4-under 209(71-71-67) to end in a tie for second place with Aggie Cameron Peck.Jamie Marshall managed to go 4-over for the tournament after he shot a 79 in the first round but countered with a pair of 69s in the final rounds, leaving him tied for 18th place. Josh Eure and Christoffer Arvidsson tied for 36th with 9-over 222 (74-75-73) and (78-75-69), respectfully. Austin Cook was 14-over 227(79-72-76) for the two-day event.For the fall season the team boasts three top three finishes (Gopher Invitational, Wolverine, and Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic) as well as Jamie Marshall’s individual title at the 2009 Wolverine.The Razorbacks will again be seen on the links February 14-15 at the Battle at the Beach Tournament in New Port Beach, California.
