ATHENS, Ga. — Freshmen Gabriela Lopez and Regina Plasencia fired single round 75s and tied for fifth overall in the one-round 2013 Lady Bulldog Individual Championship in Athens, Ga., Saturday. The duo, along with senior Meagan Roberts, took part in the one-day, one-round event at the UGA Golf Course, site of the 2013 NCAA Championship later this year. The event was scheduled for 36 holes but weather forced a delay in the start time and eventually shortened the event to just one round. Lopez opened with a 39 on the front nine and carded a 36 on the back nine for a 75. Plasencia fired rounds of 37-39 Saturday. Roberts carded an 80 and tied for 20th overall. She shot 41-39 at the UGA Golf Course. Florida’s Mia Piccio won the event shooting three-under 69 (33-36) in the 36-player event. Furman’s Laura Wearn was second with a 71, followed by USC’s Annie Park with a 72 and Ole Miss’ Abby Newton with 74. The Razorback women’s golf team returns to the links for collegiate action Feb. 10-12, traveling to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, for the Puerto Rico Golf Classic.
