Marino Rolls To Undefeated Weekend
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Juan Marino completed a 4-0 weekend in singles matches, as the Arkansas men’s tennis team concluded play at the UTSA Cup in Sunday’s championship match against the Lamar “A” team. The Razorbacks won both doubles matches, while the Cardinals won three of the four singles matches.
The Arkansas doubles teams went a combined 7-1 on the weekend, as Marino and Jacob Herndon went a perfect 4-0, while Johan den Toom and Austin Robles went 3-1. The trio of den Toom, Robles and Herndon each went 2-2 in singles play this weekend.
“We played well overall, but Lamar was too strong for us in singles today,” head coach Andy Jackson said. “Juan going undefeated was excellent and our doubles teams showed improvement throughout the weekend.”
Arkansas returns to action next weekend at the USTA/ITA Central Regional Championship in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Play begins Thursday and continues through Sunday. Singles and doubles champions from the tournament gain automatic into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships in November.
