FAYETTEVILLE – Senior Jamie Marks and sophomore Chelsea Franklin will represent the Razorbacks swimming and diving team at the 2011 NCAA Championships in March 17-19 in Austin, Texas.
Franklin heads into the national meet after breaking the school record in the in the 500 free and the 1,000 free and placing sixth 1650 freestyle at the 2011 Southeastern Conference Championships in February. Franklin is set to compete in the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle events at the NCAA meet.
"We are excited to get our meet started tomorrow with Chelsea’s 500 free," head coach Jeff Poppell said. "On paper, this championship has the making to be the fastest NCAA meet in history."
Marks, who became an All-American in the 1650 free as a sophomore, will compete against the nation’s best in the 400 IM. At the SEC Championships, Marks finished third in the consolation finals with a time of 4:12.44.
Franklin begins with the 500 freestyle swim on Thursday followed by the 400 IM race for Marks and the 200 freestyle for Franklin on Friday. Saturday closes out the meet with the 1650 races.
