McCurdy Lady'Backs move up to sixth after second round

Jump to second round results FAYETTEVILLE – The sixth-ranked University of Arkansas moved up one spot to sixth after second round action at the Las Vegas Founders Showdown in Henderson, Nev., Tuesday. Arkansas was paced by senior Amanda McCurdy who fired a one-over 73 and is tied for 15th at 145 (72-73) after two rounds of the three-day, 16-team event. Fellow senior Courtney Mahon is close on her heels and is tied for 16th with a 146 with back-to-back rounds of 73. Sophomore Stacy Lewis is tied for 27th overall with a 148 (73-75) while senior Lindsey Hinshaw and sophomore Ashley Medders both improved on Tuesday. Hinshaw carded a 75 for 151 (76-75) while Medders added a 74 (77-74) to tie Hinshaw for 45th in the field. “The conditions are great,” said Arkansas head coach Kelley Hester. “The course is in great shape and everyone is playing really well. I’m pleased with the day although I don’t think we’ve played our best golf yet. I’m really pleased with Ashley’s play today. She was five over with four holes to play and birdied her last three.” The Lady Razorbacks combined for a 295 and stand in sixth place with a 589 for the first two rounds. Second-ranked UCLA is running away with the team lead and is 12-under at 564 Tuesday. Arizona, ranked No. 23 this week, is second with a576 followed by No. 5 Pepperdine and host and 12th-ranked UNLV tied for third with 579. Number 26 Kent State is fifth with 587, two strokes better than Arkansas’ 589. The Lady’Backs are three strokes in front of No. 22 SMU with a 592. Number 30 Notre Dame is eighth with 594 followed by No. 27 Oregon, Colorado State and No. 29 Missouri rounding out the top team performances.
