McCurdy misses cut at U.S. Women's Open

FAYETTEVILLE – Former University of Arkansas women’s golfer Amanda McCurdy carded a 161 (81-80) and missed the cut at the 61st U.S. Women’s Open in Newport, R.I., Saturday. Back-to-back bogey-filled rounds hampered the El Dorado, Ark., native in her second consecutive U.S. Open appearance. McCurdy finished tied for 38th last year in Cherry Hills, Colo. The par-17, 6,564-yard course changed continuously due to the weather, some of which may have contributed to the higher scores. McCurdy’s two-day numbers included an average drive of 221 yards and she hit 22 of 28 fairways for 79 percent. She recorded 18 pars, 17 bogeys and one double over the two days of play. McCurdy will regroup quickly taking part in the Curtis Cup later this month. For more information about Arkansas golf, log on to LADYBACKS.COM.
