McFadden and Jones Earn More National Honors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas dynamic duo of running backs continue to pick up accolades following their record-setting performance last weekend against No. 23 South Carolina. Juniors Darren McFadden and Felix Jones have been named the Football Bowl Subdivision National Performers of the Week by CollegeSportsReport.com.

The Razorback duo combined for a new NCAA record of 487 rushing yards by teammates in a single game. McFadden (321) and Jones (166) eclipsed the former record of 476 yards previously held by Kansas’ Tony Sands (396) and Chip Hilleary (80) in a game against Missouri in 1991.

McFadden tied a Southeastern Conference record with 321 rushing yards on 34 carries in a 48-36 win over the Gamecocks. The Little Rock native tied Frank Mordica of Vanderbilt who rushed for 321 yards against Air Force in 1978. McFadden scored one rushing touchdown (80 yards) and passed for another (23 yards) in the win over South Carolina.

Jones earned a career-high 166 yards on 13 carries against the Gamecocks. The Tulsa, Okla., product scored three rushing touchdowns including on runs of 40 and 72 yards. Jones earned 119 yards in the first quarter and 134 yards by halftime.

McFadden has already been recognized as the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week, SEC Player of the Week and a candidate for the AT&T All-America Player of the Week for his efforts against South Carolina.
