FAYETTEVILLE — Fresh off his first collegiate competition at the Arkansas Invitational, Omar McLeod has been named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
McLeod made an impressive debut in his first meet at Arkansas, winning all three of his events to propel the Razorbacks to a first-place finish in the Arkansas Invitational. He earned his first collegiate event title in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.82, which ranks fourth all-time in Arkansas history. His 6.73 finish in the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.73 ranks No. 5 in the NCAA this season and No. 6 all-time at Arkansas. McLeod also ran a leg of the 4×400-meter relay champion team with a time of 3:09.08, defeating an all-star team comprised of former Olympians, national champions and All-Americans. McLeod and the Razorbacks will be back in action this Friday as No. 1 Arkansas hosts No. 15 Texas in the Arkansas vs. Texas Dual at Randal Tyson Track Center. The Razorbacks are undefeated since the rival meet began in 2010. Competition is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
