Miller selected to SEC Community Service Team

FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas senior Ashley Miller was selected to the Southeastern Conference Community Service team the league office announced.

"Ashley has meant so much to this team, the university and community since she arrived her freshman year," said Arkansas head coach Chris Poole. "She really cares about people and the reason that she has gotten involved with so many community activities. I applaud her for the dedication she has shown on and off the court."

Miller, a 5-7 libero from Vacaville, Calif., has had a storied career on the court setting numerous Arkansas records as well as the SEC career record for digs with 2,126 in four seasons.

Miller’s community service is also well documented. Here’s a brief look at a few of the area activities she has been involved with.

Miller participated in Dr. Seuss Read Across American Day, the Houston Nutt Classic Golf Tournament and was a representative on the U of A Tobacco Free Coalition. Her biggest involvement however has been her efforts towards breast cancer awareness. Her year-long commitment to breast cancer and breast cancer awareness has led to a variety of activities from designing newspaper ads placed in the campus newspaper, to producing a bi-monthly newsletter, presentations, Race for the Cure, to sponsoring a creative writing contest and an art contest called "Every Sister, Every Daughter, Every Mother".

Miller and the Lady Razorbacks concluded the 2007 season Saturday against Connecticut. For more information about Miller and the Lady Razorbacks, please log on to LADYBACKS.COM.
