Miseviciute earns No. 1 overall rank in ITA preaseason poll Arkansas ranked No. 53

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas junior Aurelija Miseviciute’s stellar 26-1 fall record garnered enough attention as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association recognized her as their No. 1 ranked women’s player in the spring preseason poll released Tuesday.

Miseviciute’s high ranking highlights one of four Lady Razorbacks who appear in the ITA’s rankings, as well as a No. 53 overall team ranking.

“The nice part about the early rankings is that our team has strength at the top, as well as great depth with other players earning rankings,” said Arkansas head coach Michael Hegarty. “It really shows the quality and versatility of our team.”

Junior Ela Kaluder pairs up with Miseviciute to form the No. 12 ranked doubles team in the nation. Also appearing in the doubles rankings was the duo of senior Maryori Franco and junior Nanar Airapetian at No. 44 respectively.

Kaluder and Miseviciute combined to finish 17-3 in fall doubles action, while Franco and Airapetian ended the season at 8-6 respectively.

The Lady’Backs will be serving up the 2008 spring tennis season on January 19th as they travel to take on Brigham Young.
