Miseviciute leads pack as six Lady'Backs appear in ITA rankings

FAYETTEVILLE – Junior Aurelija Miseviciute finds herself on top of the college tennis world with a No. 1 overall ranking released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday.

The University of Arkansas Lady Razorbacks find themselves as a team ranked No. 30, with an 8-5 overall record and 1-1 in Southeastern Conference action.

Miseviciute began the season with a No. 1 ranking, but fell to No. 2 in the second rankings release. However, the native of Lithuania is back on the throne with a 10-2 record in singles, all on Court 1.

Superb doubles play all season gained national recognition this week as every Lady’Back duo appeared the rankings. Miseviciute and Kaluder lead the way at No. 21, while Maryori Franco and Nanar Airapetian moved up to No. 54, and Audrey Bordeleau and Anouk Tigu crept into the ranking at No. 59 with a 9-1 overall record.

“Having six players in the rankings is definitely a sign great things are happening on our team,” said Arkansas head coach Michael Hegarty. “We hope our team continues to climb in the rankings with a strong second half of the season.”

Lady’Back tennis will be back in action on Friday in a SEC battle against Vanderbilt at 2:00 p.m.
