Miseviciute wins in three-sets doubles fall

LOS ANGELES – University of Arkansas Razorback, Aurelija Miseviciute, buckled down for a three-set victory at the Riviera/ITA All-American Women’s Championships on Thursday.

After dropped the first set, 4-6, to Fresno State’s Melanie Gloria, Miseviciute was close to losing consecutive sets and her first-round match as the top seed. However, the No. 1 ranked player in women’s tennis dug deep and relied on her mobility to capture the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6(5). After gaining the momentum, Miseviciute put Gloria on her heels cruising to a third-set victory, 6-4, to claim the match.

The win sets up a second-round clash with #20 Kelcy McKenna from Arizona State at 1 p.m. tomorrow.

In doubles action, the Razorback duo of No. 10 Ela Kaluder and Miseviciute was upended in a very close match by No. 15 Laura Vallverdu and Michaela Kissel of Miami, 8-6.
