Mississippi State up next

FAYETTEVILLE – The Arkansas Razorback softball team begins a 10 day road trip through the state of Mississippi to Alabama and meets three Southeastern Conference opponents, starting with Mississippi State March 18-20.

The Razorbacks go into the three-game series with a 9-17 overall record and a 0-5 start in the conference. The Hogs dropped two games against No. 24/21 Kentucky on Wednesday. Arkansas took the top 25-ranked Wildcats to 11 innings in game two after freshman Ashley Martindale plated both the Hogs runs in the first and the sixth inning.

"Hopefully we can go down and play a great game Friday night and get some momentum going," Arkansas head coach Mike Larabee said. "We have Mississippi State all weekend and Ole Miss on Wednesday so we just need to go out and compete like I know we are capable of."

The Bulldogs go into the weekend with a 12-14 season record and a 2-2 start to SEC play. MSU was swept by No. 2/1 Florida on Wednesday afternoon in a doubleheader. Historically, the Razorbacks are 23-26 against the Bulldogs. Last season, Arkansas swept the three-game series including an 18-13 battle in game three.

"Everybody is tough in the SEC. You can’t overlook anybody so we have to come to play," Larabee said.

Arkansas looks to break its six-game losing streak in Starkville with game one on Friday at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday’s games against the Bulldogs are set for a 1 p.m. start time.
