COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Arkansas Razorbacks fell to the No. 18/14 Missouri Tigers 12-0 in five innings at University Field in Columbia, Mo., in the first mid-week game of the season for the Razorbacks.
Mizzou was first to get on board with four in the first inning. With two stolen bases and a three-run homer. A double to the right side brought in the fourth run. The Razorbacks came to the plate with a single by freshman Chloe Oprzedek, but two strikeouts close the inning.
"Just a very very disappointing day," head coach Mike Larabee said. "I thought this was the first time all year where we really didn’t compete. The execution of offense to defense, just all aspects of the game were disappointing."
The Tigers worked through their lineup with four more runs in the second off just two hits. The team picked up two more runs in the third and held the Razorbacks to a total of three hits and three errors. Pinch runner Macy Burr singled to left in the fourth, but the Razorbacks could not plate a run against the No. 18/14 Missouri Tigers.
"I guess every once in a while you have a game like this, but we have to really have a short memory and really come out and have a good practice tomorrow," Larabee said. "We have to get ready for Auburn. It will be a long season if we continue to play like today."
The Razorbacks open Southeastern Conference play with the first home series of the season against Auburn on Friday, March 11 at Bogle Park.
