Mort and Breault earn all-tournament selection

FAYETTEVILLE – A pair of Razorbacks batting .600 were selected to the 25th Louisiana Classics all-tournament team for their efforts during Arkansas’ (3-2) opening weekend in Lafayette, La.

Sophomore Courtney Breault and junior Tori Mort were selected to represent the Hogs on the all-tournament team. Breault collected seven hits on the weekend in just 11 at bats picking up four RBI, two of which represented her first two home runs of the season. Breault also had a walk-off single to right field in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Hogs their second victory of the tournament.

"I’m really excited for both of them," head coach Mike Larabee said. "Before the tournament, Breault had been struggling a little bit when we played a couple of cage games, but to start out the year the way she did is just awesome. She is our lead hitter returning from last year, so will be looking forward for her to continue throughout the year."

Mort was able to pick up six hits on the weekend while plating four runs over the weekend as well. Mort was included in the record breaking performance for the Hogs in the first game of the tournament by hitting one of the Razorbacks five triples against Prairie View A&M. The junior also had a two RBI double the second time the Hogs faced the Bearkats of Sam Houston State to ensure extra innings and help secure the win.

"Tori struggled last year as a sophomore, but to put this performance together this weekend really is a testament to her work ethic and how hard she has worked for her junior year," Larabee said.

The Razorbacks continue on the road at the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., Feb. 18-20.
